Paxton House, a borders wedding venue you must check out.
Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting a truly stunning wedding venue in the Scottish borders. Paxton House is just breathtaking. It is a hidden gem of a place that just oozes class and elegance. I was impressed by the outside when Jessica showed me round but when we stepped in to the library and the main hall…I was shocked at how amazing the place was. The grounds were maybe not at their best with the weather being the worst of the week I visited, but I’m sure you can picture how it would look on a sunny day! So many places and so many options for photos.
I could ramble on here for a bit but the details of the venue come way better from someone who works there. Have a look at the photos and drop Jessica a line if you fancy having your wedding in amazing settings.
It is just truly stunning…
Paxton House is a Georgian Gem situated on the Scottish side of the border between England and Scotland. It has many versatile wedding locations within a stunning 80 acres of ground. This includes the largest purpose built picture gallery in Scotland, a rustic boathouse on the banks of the River Tweed and the magnificent marquee which overlooks the Union Chain Bridge.
With so many different venues within the house and grounds, each couple is able to create their own day by mixing and matching the rooms to make their day perfectly unique to them. A popular one would be a ceremony in the Picture Gallery and a wedding breakfast with evening reception in the marquee. This can accommodate up to 150 guests. For those who want a more intimate and rustic setting, the boathouse ceremony for 30 is situated on the banks of the River Tweed, and can be matched with an Al Fresco Barbecue by the river or an intimate dinner for 40 in the dining room. Then for an even more intimate setting, they offer couples an elopement, which has the bride and groom climbing on board a small coble fishing boat on the River Tweed with two witnesses and the registrar or celebrant.
