Flashback to November and another Lord Crewe Arms wedding
It was back in 2014 when I first had the pleasure of visiting the awesome Lord Crewe Arms wedding venue, which you can view the photographs from here. I had been invited along for a chat with the Front of House Manager to discuss weddings and how my natural photography was perfect for this historic setting. I was so impressed when I first visited the Lord Crewe Arms and each time I return I still love it. The old stone building, the flagstone floors, the understated luxury all help to create such a welcoming atmosphere.
So what makes this wedding memorable for me? There’s always something that makes a wedding stand out and this certainly has its stories to tell. One of the Lord Crewe Arms features is a vintage bicycle parked up outside and Kim just couldn’t resist it. Obviously I was there to capture this cheeky moment!
This was one of those days where the weather just doesn’t play ball. Unfortunately, the weather is just something that can’t be planned for – as much as I try to pack it into my kit bag. However, that doesn’t stop me and as long as couples are ‘up for a giggle’, I always get them outside at some point. Yes it might involve a massive umbrella (which I usually have in the car just in case) but I never like to pass up the awesome natural light that the ‘golden hour’ offers. So this was a very wet wedding but thanks to a willing bride and groom, and a short break in the downpours, we made it out into Blanchland’s countryside. Thanks again to Kim for being willing to put on some wellies and play around by the riverside and in the many cool puddles!
Kim and Matt did a great job of pulling together lots of local suppliers to create their special day. Kim’s dress was a stunning Maggie Sottero number from Y.A.P bridal boutique in Newcastle city centre, her hair was done by Wedding Hair and Makeup North East and her makeup done by the talented Nikki, owner of The Natural Beauty Clinic in Rowlands Gill. Then let’s not forget the beautiful flowers by Fiori Designs (Flower Designs florist) in Whickham.
If you’re into history and want to know more about the venue and the twists and turns through time, the Lord Crewe Arms website is very informative. If you want to know more about Lord Crewe Arms weddings then get in touch with their awesome wedding coordinator Sophie. And please don’t forget to tell her that Gavin sent you! Whether you are having a Lord Crewe Arms wedding or your special day somewhere else, please get in touch to discuss how I could help to capture those special moments for you.
