2015…what an awesome year for Newcastle Upon Tyne Creative Wedding Photography!
A year packed with Newcastle Upon Tyne creative wedding photography and engagement shoots as well as some UK weddings and an intimate French destination wedding. As usual there were loads of opportunities to work with some great couples and meet new friends. I thoroughly enjoyed returning to the many incredible wedding venues near Newcastle Upon Tyne and across North East England but also had the chance to photograph a stunning destination wedding far beyond the North of England. I travelled far and wide to some awesome places this year, from the stunning Northumberland scenery that I am privileged enough to see most days to the beautiful Dordogne valley in Southern France.
As I sit back and reflect upon another action packed year I instantly remember my trip to Beynac-et-Cazenac in the Dordogne valley, Southern France for Sarah and Joe’s destination wedding. This definitely has to be one of my highlights from 2015! The trip involved spending a week in a converted water mill with Joe’s awesome family; capturing lots of natural photographs of the couple and their immediate families as they enjoyed a few relaxing days before and after the intimate destination wedding, which took place in Sarah’s family home. Nestled on the hillside in medieval Beynac, Sarah’s family home made an awesome wedding venue for this intimate and relaxed French wedding, and the stunning scenery around the Dordogne valley provided some awesome opportunities for my creative, natural wedding photography. Yes, the weather didn’t quite play ball on the actual wedding day, but a few showers couldn’t detract from this simply beautiful destination wedding.
Another very memorable day was Alnwick Castle, Northumberland. How could the home of Harry Potter not be memorable? This stunning North East castle is a truly iconic Northumberland landmark, steeped in British heritage and film history, and gave me awesome opportunities to capture my natural, creative wedding photography.
Then how could I forget my two weddings at The Lord Crewe Arms, Blanchland. From egg and spoon races and croquet to jumping over the broom, this fantastic Northumberland wedding venue never fails to bring some interesting events along the way. How could I not love a wedding venue where I can persuade the brides to don some wellies and head out into the countryside for some awesome natural, creative wedding photography?
I also thoroughly enjoyed my first opportunity to shoot at the amazing Natural Retreats, near Richmond North Yorkshire. I hadn’t even heard of this eco wedding venue until I was approached by the couple, but I’m so pleased I now know about this hidden gem. The uninterrupted views over the Swale Valley and stunning countryside stretching out as far as the eye can see really did provide some awesome places for capturing my natural, creative wedding photography. This idyllic location is such a cool venue for any wedding but if it’s an eco green wedding you are wanting this is certainly one to consider.
But my year wasn’t just full of Newcastle Upon Tyne creative wedding photography, it was also full of awesome engagement shoots. One of my favourite engagement shoots was for a lovely Australian couple who live and work in the North East but were planning on returning down-under for their wedding celebrations. As much as they loved my natural, creative wedding photography style they unfortunately couldn’t stretch their budget to fly me over for their big day, we did however have a great time in Newcastle city centre on an engagement shoot. They absolutely loved capturing some natural photographs of them as a couple near Newcastle Upon Tyne landmarks such as The Bridges and along the famous Quayside.
I know I say this every year but 2015 really was awesome; full of laughs, giggles and lots of opportunities to do the natural, creative wedding photography that I love in loads of stunning places. Here’s to an awesome 2016!
