York Wedding Photographer – Back in my old University stomping ground
A York wedding photographer? Me? Who would have guessed it? You may or may not know that before I was a wedding photographer I spent many years as a York University Chemistry student – who would have guessed that years after I left I would return as a York wedding photographer!
After spending eight years in and around York I have a real soft spot for the city. The huge gothic minster, the narrow higgledy giggledy Shambles and the forever flooding Ouse all feel a little like home even now. So when I was asked by Ben and Holly “would you come down to York for our wedding?” I jumped at the chance to return to my ‘second home’.
So, have you seen that cute little church sitting right in the shadow of York Minster? That’s St Michael le Belfrey Church and that’s the awesome place for Ben and Holly’s ceremony. Needless to say I’m looking forward to some York wedding photography in this cool city centre venue. The couple are then continuing their wedding celebrations at the stunning Rudding Park, near Harrogate. Another wedding venue with some great opportunities for my creative wedding photography.
This was a great engagement shoot and a perfect example of why I love doing them with my couples. Not only did we get to know each other before the big day, I got to ‘practise’ capturing the emotions and fun between Ben and Holly, and they got to see how I work. After my chat with the happy couple and the fun we had on this engagement shoot, my head is spinning with ideas for some awesome creative wedding photography. I’m already coming up with different ways that I can creatively use natural light in my photos at the venues. I just can’t wait for their wedding day to capture some amazing York wedding photography in my uniquely creative style.
As far as testimonials go this has to be one of my favourites…EVER! ‘Gavin’s understanding and enjoyment of light and colour are reminiscent of early Monet. Like Monet’s work at Argenteuil and Gare St Lazare, the subjects of Gavin’s images are crisp and clear but simultaneously capture something of the movement and play of light across an environment’ – Can’t ask for a more positive reaction to my work than that!
Roll on the wedding day when I get to be a York wedding photographer all over again. I can’t wait to have some more photographic fun with this pair!
